Information For Investors
We are an information business helping to deliver investor information to our members.
As an investor you will be aware that quality information is key to a successful investment strategy.
There are legal restrictions on the distribution of information about investments regulated in the UK under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and its regulations (‘FSMA’). At the time of writing the FCA are consulting on the promotion of speculative products by regulated persons, so Investor Information (although it is not regulated by the FCA) has decided that it will wait until the results of the consultation are published before deciding how it can engage with Issuers of products that FCA regulate under FSMA.
There are products which are potentially investments but outside the scope of investments which fall within FSMA. These are usually investments in physical assets as opposed to securities. Investor Information can introduce potential investors to such non-FSMA regulated investments provided you can self certify to us that you are an ‘Experienced Everyday Investor’ (a definition that we have created).
Experienced Everyday Investor
What is an Experienced Everyday Investor?
(Please note Experienced Everyday Investors can only review some proposals)
Summary: An individual that is 18 years of age, sufficiently knowledgeable about making investments generally and fully aware of the risks involved in making investments in products that are not regulated by the FCA and which are speculative and illiquid.
*SELF-CERTIFIED EXPERIENCED EVERYDAY INVESTOR is a term and definition created by IIL to describe investors - it is not an FCA or FMSA definition or description.
Please note that investing in non-FSMA products does NOT entitle you to any form of investor protection from the Financial Services Compensation scheme. You should not continue with this site or these non regulated products if you need those protections.
